Michael O’Leary, the Irish entrepreneur and CEO of Ryanair, encountered an intriguing surprise at Luvida restaurant in Navan. After dining there, he noticed that €37.85 (around £32) had been added to his bill.

They played a joke on the Ryanair CEO

O’Leary ordered, among other things, perch, mushroom bruschetta, and tempura shrimp at the Irish restaurant, as well as white wine. The final amount on the bill was €142.30 (nearly £120).

However, items appeared on the receipt that took him by surprise. An extra charge of €7.95 was added for more legroom. But that was not all. An additional €9.95 was charged for priority seating and €19.95 for a reservation in a quiet part of the restaurant. In total, €37.85, which is about £32. One might say that O’Leary finally experienced his own policy, where you pay extra for every additional comfort.

The restaurant manager explained, however, that it was just a joke. O’Leary took it with good humour, posing for a picture with the staff.

Reactions and comments

The restaurant capitalised on the situation as free advertising by posting a picture of the bill on social media, and thanks to this unique scenario, it became exceptionally popular.

Internet users on social media openly express that they appreciate the humorous concept. Most respond with laughing emojis. "Simply brilliant," "Great idea," "Best joke ever," they comment. Some jokingly suggest he should also pay for extra plates, cutlery, glasses, and the privilege of using the restroom.
