Sheet-pan dinner is a quick and simple way to prepare a wholesome meal. You only need one baking sheet on which you place your favourite vegetables and meat. It could be fish or chicken; one of the quickest solutions is our homely sausage. It's accompanied by onions and apples, which truly enhance its flavour.

Baked sausage with onions and apples

Apples are not only tasty additions to cakes and desserts; their taste works well in many dishes. Liver with apples or roast duck are dishes that have mastered this fruity addition. Apples also work brilliantly as an addition to baked sausage.

This dish is simple to prepare and quick, because all you have to do is place it on a baking sheet and put it in the oven. It costs very little and tastes so good that after baking, not a piece of apple or onion is left, let alone the sausage.

Ingredients:

  • 8 sausages,
  • 2 apples,
  • 4 shallot onions,
  • 4 sprigs of fresh thyme,
  • 8 tablespoons of olive oil.

Method of preparation:

  1. Cut the sausages into quarters, quarter the apples and remove the cores, and cut the shallots in half or into quarters.
  2. Spread the sausages, apple pieces, and shallots on a baking sheet.
  3. Add the sprigs of thyme and drizzle everything generously with olive oil.
  4. Place the sheet in an oven preheated to 180°C and bake for about 35-45 minutes, until the sausages are browned and the vegetables are soft.

You can serve the ready sausages with bread. If you want the dinner to be even more filling, you can bake them along with pieces of potatoes. A tasty addition would also be a sauerkraut salad. Enjoy your meal!
