Marco Degli Uomini, a talented 18-year-old alpine skier, suffered a severe accident during a training session on Monte Zoncolan. On Saturday, 8th March, while preparing for a competition, he lost his balance and fell after a jump of over 40 metres. He landed on the snow and then hit the safety net, sustaining multiple fractures and a chest injury.

While being transported by helicopter to the hospital in Tolmezzo, Marco was conscious and sent a message to his mother: "Mum, I fell. I think I've broken my legs... don't worry". Unfortunately, his condition quickly deteriorated. After being transferred to the hospital in Udine, where he was placed in intensive care, he passed away on Sunday morning.
