Tragic shooting near DC museum claims lives of embassy staff

On Wednesday evening, a shooting occurred near the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, resulting in the death of two employees of the Israeli embassy, according to media reports citing police sources. Israel's Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, described the attack as a "depraved act of anti-Semitic terrorism."

According to reports from ABC News, the victims of the tragedy are a man and a woman associated with the Israeli diplomatic mission in the US capital. The shooting took place near the Capital Jewish Museum, where an event was being held with the participation of representatives of the Jewish community.

The death of the embassy employees was confirmed by the US Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem.

"Two Israeli Embassy staff were senselessly killed tonight near the Jewish Museum in Washington DC. We are actively investigating and working to get more information to share. Please pray for the families of the victims. We will bring this depraved perpetrator to justice," she wrote on platform X.

Ambassador devastated by the attack

Ambassador Danny Danon stated that the attack occurred during an event at the museum. He explained that it is a depraved act of anti-Semitic terrorism.

"Harming the Jewish community is crossing a red line. We are confident that the US authorities will take strong action against those responsible for this criminal act. Israel will continue to act resolutely to protect its citizens and representatives – everywhere in the world," he added.

There is currently no official information about the perpetrator or whether they have been apprehended. Authorities are continuing the investigation, trying to determine the motives and circumstances of the incident.
