Trump escalates tensions with Colombia over deportations

The American president does not mince words or measures. After Colombia refused to accept a plane with immigrants deported from the USA, he initially announced financial sanctions and measures against Colombian authorities and officials. Then, he shared a notable photo on social media featuring an offensive slogan.

Following Donald Trump's decision to impose a 25% tariff and a broad array of financial sanctions on Colombia and Colombian officials and their families, he posted on social media.

Trump shared an image online where he is styled in a manner reminiscent of gangster films.

In the background, the word FAFO appears, which can be read as a straightforward message to the Colombian authorities.

The abbreviation, popular among young internet users, serves as a warning that actions have consequences. It is akin to phrases like "If you mess with the bull, you get the horns" - which loosely translates to encountering consequences for one's actions.

There is also a more explicit interpretation - "[Mess] Around and Find Out." In this context, if someone causes trouble, they will soon encounter the repercussions.

Trump announces tariffs and sanctions on Colombia

Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he had ordered the imposition of a 25% tariff and a range of financial sanctions against Colombia, as well as Colombian officials and their families. This decision was prompted by Colombian President Gustavo Petro's refusal to permit the deportation of illegal migrants by military planes.

The American president stated in a post on the Truth Social platform that the decision of the "socialist president," who is "already very unpopular amongst his people," compromised the USA's national and public security.

In response, he declared a series of actions and sanctions against the authorities in Bogotá.

Shortly afterwards, the President of Colombia proposed sending a government plane to the United States to collect Colombian citizens deported from the USA, according to CNN.
