Official notification of this matter was included in the government publication "Federal Register." The document refers to the executive orders issued by former President Joe Biden in 2021 and 2022.

The Democrat declared a state of emergency under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act in response to an "unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States " and the "harmful foreign activities of the Government of the Russian Federation."

These actions included interfering in democratic electoral processes, conducting cyberattacks against America and its allies, using corruption to influence other governments, and attacks on individuals with differing views and members of the media.

Other allegations included undermining security in countries and regions significant to US national security and violating international law norms, including the principle of territorial integrity of sovereign states.

As highlighted in the published document, this situation continues to pose an unusual and extraordinary threat to the United States' national security, foreign policy, and economy. This justifies maintaining the existing emergency measures for another year.

US blocks Russian assets

The MSN news service points out that President Biden's decree to implement the state of emergency aimed to block Russian assets under US jurisdiction and impose economic sanctions.

According to sources from Fox News, the sitting president had concluded that Putin was deliberately delaying a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. As a result, the administration in Washington is considering tightening the existing sanctions against Russia. Trump had personally threatened to impose so-called secondary sanctions on countries purchasing Russian oil.
