Trump shares contentious video amid escalating Houthi tensions
Donald Trump shared a recording of an attack on the Houthis. He posted the video, accompanied by a mocking comment: "Oops, there will be no attack by these Houthis," he wrote.
White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt has stated in recent days that the United States conducted "over 200 successful strikes" on the Houthis.
Donald Trump posted a video on platform X, which purportedly shows one of these attacks. Trump added a mocking comment to the video about the Houthis: "These Houthis gathered for instructions on an attack. Oops, there will be no attack by these Houthis! They will never sink our ships again!," he wrote.
The United States emphasises that by bombing Houthi positions, they are combating terrorism and protecting the freedom of navigation. Since the outbreak of war in the Gaza Strip, Yemeni rebels have carried out over 100 attacks on ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, declaring their support for Hamas in this way. The group announced further strikes after Israel started a blockade of the Gaza Strip, later broke the truce, and returned to fighting.
Scandal: They discussed plans to attack the Houthis
In the context of Trump's post, it is worth recalling the scandal related to planning attacks on the Houthis. "The Atlantic" revealed that editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg was accidentally added to a group on the Signal messenger, where top U.S. officials—including Vice President J.D. Vance, Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth, and national security advisor Michael Waltz—discussed plans to attack the Houthi rebellion in Yemen. Goldberg followed the conversations from 11 March, and the strike occurred on 15 March.
