President Donald Trump revealed a pioneering move in American military aviation. Under his directive, the United States Air Force has begun constructing the world's first sixth-generation fighter jet.
Donald Trump announced the construction of the F-47 fighter during a meeting with Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth. The new aircraft must have the most advanced stealth technologies, making it virtually invisible. Trump emphasised that the name F-47 is "beautiful" and a nod to his presidency.
The President highlighted that the F-47 represents an unprecedented development in military aviation, noting that no existing aircraft comes close regarding speed, manoeuvrability, or payload capacity. He added that this project has been in the works for quite some time.
A clear signal to allies
The F-47 is to symbolize a new generation of U.S. air dominance. Pete Hegseth noted that the new project is a clear signal to U.S. allies that the country does not plan to retreat from the global stage. Trump added that interest in the new fighter is immense, and U.S. allies are already keen to purchase it.
Although Trump did not disclose the exact costs of the project, it is known that the contract with Boeing amounts to £16 billion. Production of the fighter jet has already begun, and its service entry is planned for the coming years. In his speech, General David Allvin, the chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force, highlighted the groundbreaking significance of the new F-47 fighter jet for the future of American air dominance. The General expressed gratitude for the military's unwavering support and acknowledged the efforts of all involved in this project.
The General remarked that it was a significant day for the United States Air Force and stressed that air superiority is not guaranteed. While often associated with American military strength, maintaining such dominance requires continuous effort and commitment.
He described the F-47 as the centrepiece of the new generation of air dominance systems, expressing confidence that it would deliver enhanced strike capabilities. Looking ahead, he emphasized the importance of exploring the powerful synergy between human skill and advanced technology.
