Trump vows tariffs will enrich the US, bullish on Ukraine talks
Donald Trump announces that the implementation of tariffs will make the United States wealthier than ever. "Tariffs are going to be the greatest thing we've ever done as a country," assured the President of the USA. He also stated that he is optimistic about the talks between the US and Ukrainian delegates, which will take place on Tuesday in Saudi Arabia.
The US President, Donald Trump, during his journey from Florida to Washington, spoke confidently about the benefits of implementing tariffs on foreign goods.
"Tariffs are about making America rich again and making America great again. And it's happening, and it will happen rather quickly," the President of the USA assured.
"In fact, already, numerous car companies have announced that they will be building massive automobile plants in America, with Honda just announcing a new plant in Indiana, one of the largest anywhere in the world," said Trump.
He stated that these could amount to "hundreds of billions of dollars" in tariffs. "We’re going to become so rich you’re not going to know where to spend all that money," Trump said. "I'm telling you; you just watch. We're going to have jobs. We're going to have open factories. It's going to be great," he envisioned for the future.
Optimism before talks with Ukraine
Trump also addressed the upcoming discussions between the USA and Ukraine, which are set to take place in Riyadh. He expressed optimism about their outcomes, emphasizing that "we're going to make a lot of progress, I believe, this week." The US President is hopeful for an agreement concerning the exploitation of Ukrainian mineral resources.
The American delegation will include, alongside the Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the National Security Adviser Michael Waltz, and the Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff. On the Ukrainian side, participants will include, among others, the Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha and the Chief of Staff of the President Andriy Yermak.
The meeting in Riyadh will take place without Russia's participation. Trump emphasized that he expects greater involvement from Ukraine in striving for peace, which is crucial for further cooperation.
