Turmoil in Kursk: Looting intensifies as Russians return
Russian soldiers are returning to parts of the Kursk region that the Ukrainian Armed Forces occupied. The local community is not entirely happy about this, as Putin's troops show no restraint, not even towards their fellow countrymen. A video has surfaced online showing a Russian bandit brazenly robbing them.
Chaos in the Kursk region continues at full speed. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are retreating under Russian pressure. Putin's soldiers are slowly reclaiming the areas occupied by Ukrainians since August 2024. However, this does not mean that the average resident of this area is pleased.
Quite the opposite – as recently analysed by the OKO.press portal, when Kyiv struck the Kursk region, local authorities collapsed. Everything happened spontaneously. There was no preparation or plan. Similarly now, as the Russians are reclaiming occupied areas. The acting governor of the region complains about a corporation that embezzled public funds intended for border defence. Local authorities are struggling to manage the crisis.
The area from which Ukrainians are retreating, but which the Russians have not yet occupied, is referred to as a grey zone. From there, some residents have evacuated from the area of operations, and many homes have been abandoned, while Putin's soldiers do not remain idle.
Video from the Kursk region. Russians have returned to the occupied area and are stealing
The liberation of the land by the Russians unfortunately comes at a bitter price. In many videos circulating online, you can see Putin's soldiers looting what was left by their countrymen. In one clip, a soldier is seen stealing a goose.
The man tucks it under his arm and then, to the delight of his companion, rides with it on a bicycle down the street. Such thefts are nothing new. Literally everything falls prey – even the most mundane items, like clothing. Probably the most valuable things were well hidden or gathered during the evacuation.
Many members of the local community preferred to remain in place. Some of them admitted that the Ukrainians treated them better than the returning Russians. OKO.press reported that such individuals are being transported further into the country. Propaganda tries to blame everything bad that happened in the Kursk region on the Ukrainian side. Meanwhile, as seen in the videos, Russians indulge freely and do whatever they please on the reclaimed lands.
In conclusion, although Ukrainians are retreating from Kursk, they are trying to "nip" at the aggressor in the Belgorod region. One of the reasons for such actions is an attempt to divert the attention of Putin's soldiers from the Kursk sector.
