Mike Turner, Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and a member of the Republican Party, stressed in a statement issued on Thursday that the United States should consider taking "direct military action" in response to North Korean troops entering Ukraine.

Turner made this statement following reports that Russia received support in the form of thousands of soldiers from North Korea. His comments were reported by the American site The Hill.

On Wednesday, the White House announced that according to Washington's estimates, at least 3,000 North Korean soldiers are participating in training at Russian bases in the Far East. This was previously reported by South Korean intelligence.

In his statement, Turner insisted that the Biden and Harris administration should explicitly declare that the involvement of North Korean troops in the conflict will be regarded by the USA as crossing a red line. He believes this would necessitate a firm response.

"If North Korean troops were to invade Ukraine’s sovereign territory, the United States needs to seriously consider taking direct military action against the North Korean troops," Turner noted.

Michael R. Turner is a Congressman from the Republican Party. Since 2003, he has represented Ohio's 3rd congressional district in the United States House of Representatives.
