What do you need to know?

  • At the beginning of May, the United Kingdom will be affected by the "beast from Europe," which means a wave of storms and rainfall.
  • No region of the country will be spared from the rainy weather.
  • Temperatures will drop to as low as 43 degrees Fahrenheit.

The United Kingdom had been expecting a mild end to April and start to May. While the days may begin with fog, temperatures are forecast to reach a warm 68 degrees Fahrenheit. However, the subsequent weeks will not be as pleasant.

The UK meteorological office warns that the weather in May will be far from stable. "A typical mix of drier and more stable periods, as well as wetter and more unsettled conditions, is overall somewhat more likely," they stated.

It will start on 8 May

The "beast from Europe" is expected to reach the United Kingdom during the night of 7 to 8 May, bringing heavy rainfall and storms. It will begin in southern England and some parts of Scotland, then the storms will spread across the entire country.

Temperatures will fall on 8 May, ranging from 43 to 59 degrees Fahrenheit.

"Temperatures are likely to remain around average, with a small likelihood of periods of warmth and heat," say UK meteorologists.
