Ukraine strikes back: Drone attacks paralyze Russian regions
The Russian Ministry of Defence announced that Kyiv launched nearly 300 drones at 13 Russian regions. Terrified by the attack, residents are posting videos of the moments online. Explosions have occurred in many places. Airports near Moscow are paralysed. Clouds of black smoke are rising above the "Kronshtadt" drone development plant in Dubna and the technology park in Moscow.
They in Russia must clearly feel the consequences of what they are doing against Ukraine. And they will. Attack drones, interceptors, cruise missiles, Ukrainian ballistic systems – these are the key elements. We must manufacture all of them – announced President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday in an evening video recording.
In recent days, Russia has conducted massive attacks on Ukraine. President Zelensky reported that in just three days (from Saturday to Monday), hostile forces sent over 900 drones. In his view, the Kremlin is not seeking peace, but intends to continue the war.
Residents of 13 regions of Russia experienced what Ukrainians have been enduring for more than three years overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday. According to the Russian Defence Ministry's statement, "duty air defence measures destroyed and intercepted 296 Ukrainian drone aircraft over the territories of the Moscow region and the regions of: Bryansk, Belgorod, Vladimir, Voronezh, Ivanovo, Kaluga, Kursk, Oryol, Ryazan, Smolensk, Tver, and Tula."
The airline "Aeroflot" announced that due to the drone attacks on Moscow and the resulting restrictions at airports and changes in air traffic, it is forced to cancel and combine flights. The airline "Pobeda," part of the Aeroflot group, also announced schedule changes.
As a result of the overnight air attacks, all airports in the Moscow air traffic hub: Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and Zhukovsky temporarily suspended operations. By the morning, the restrictions were lifted.
According to RBC, over 100 flights are delayed.
In Zelenograd, part of one of Moscow's administrative districts, a drone attacked the "Elma" technology park — reported the Telegram channels ASTRA and Baza. The video recordings show damage to the building façade and broken windows. Additionally, a car burned in the technology park's parking lot.
In Dubna near Moscow, drones reportedly attacked the "Kronshtadt" plant, which is engaged in the development of drones — reported ASTRA, citing residents' accounts.
