"President Putin of Russia doesn’t want to have a Cease Fire Agreement with Ukraine, but rather wants to meet on Thursday, in Turkey, to negotiate a possible end to the BLOODBATH. Ukraine should agree to this, IMMEDIATELY. At least they will be able to determine whether or not a deal is possible, and if it is not, European leaders, and the U.S., will know where everything stands, and can proceed accordingly!" - stated U.S. President Donald Trump.

He added: "I’m starting to doubt that Ukraine will make a deal with Putin, who’s too busy celebrating the Victory of World War ll, which could not have been won (not even close!) without the United States of America. HAVE THE MEETING, NOW!!!"

Ukraine proposes a ceasefire

On Saturday, the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, announced that a full and unconditional ceasefire will commence from Monday.

In response to his appeal, during the night from Saturday to Sunday, the Russian leader held a press conference at the Kremlin and suggested "direct talks" with Kyiv in Istanbul on Thursday, 15th May.

These developments were addressed by U.S. President Donald Trump, who declared an increase in efforts for peace between Russia and Ukraine. "A significant week is approaching" – he announced on Truth Social, stressing the importance of the forthcoming peace talks.

Kremlin refuses. Putin wants to continue fighting

However, since Sunday morning, the Kremlin has been engaging in a disinformation campaign. Moscow does not agree to a ceasefire as a preliminary step before talks.

Putin made it clear: discussions must first address the causes of the conflict, and only then consider a ceasefire – emphasised Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
