Ukrainian drones strike key Russian refinery and airbase
Ukrainians have carried out another successful attack on Russian fuel infrastructure. On Tuesday morning, drones targeted a refinery in Saratov. A series of explosions were also reported near an airbase close to the city of Engels.
The head of the Ukrainian Centre for Countering Disinformation, Andriy Kovalenko, confirmed the attack on the refinery.
"The Saratov oil refinery is one of the key components of Russian fuel infrastructure. Its processing capacity is approximately 8 million tonnes of oil annually. The facility plays an important role in supplying the Russian army with fuel," Kovalenko wrote on Telegram.
Meanwhile, in the area of the city of Engels, in Saratov Oblast, several explosions were heard. There is an airbase there where Russian strategic bombers are stationed. Russian Telegram channels, citing reports from local residents, mentioned at least 11 explosions.
Series of attacks in Russia
The Russian Ministry of Defence reported that last night, it shot down 40 Ukrainian drones over various regions: 18 over Saratov, 13 over Rostov, six over Bryansk, two over Volgograd, and one over Belgorod.
