Universal Studios to bring movie magic to the UK by 2031
Themed rides from "Harry Potter," scenes straight from James Bond films, or experiencing the adventures of Paddington Bear firsthand. Soon, a powerful and modern Universal Studios park will open in Europe.
There's no longer a need to travel overseas. Europeans will soon not have to journey to the United States or Japan to experience the magic of the Universal Studios theme park firsthand. It's not an attraction everyone visits when abroad, but merely mentioning it will surely bring excitement to some. Themed exhibits, experiences, and of course, rides from "Harry Potter," "The Simpsons," "Jurassic Park," and "Fast & Furious" are just part of what the theme park's rich offering includes.
Residents of Europe will soon have this within reach. In the United Kingdom, the first Universal Studios' on the old continent is being developed over a vast area of approximately 476 hectares.
The attraction will be built on the site of a former brickyard near Bedford, and it is estimated that during its first year of operation, it will welcome as many as 8.5 million visitors. The opening date has already been set for 2031.
The first Universal Studios in Europe will be established in the United Kingdom
The construction of Universal Studios' in the United Kingdom is set to begin next year. According to the production company, this particular theme park will be "one of the largest and most advanced" on the entire continent.
"James Bond, Paddington Bear, Harry Potter. We have so many reasons to be proud," said the BBC Secretary of Culture, Lisa Nandy, speaking enthusiastically about the project that will blend American and British cultural heritage.
The establishment of such a vast complex will also have a significant impact on the local community - new jobs will be created, transportation links will improve, and tourism will increase. Universal reported conducting a survey among over 6,000 residents of Bedford and the surrounding areas, with as many as 92% supporting the project.
