The Vatican announced that all 133 cardinals who will participate in the upcoming conclave are already present in Rome. This information was given after Monday's congregation, which included about 180 cardinals, including 132 electors.
Matteo Bruni, director of the Vatican press office, reported that during the congregation, 26 speeches were heard. The topics covered included canon law, the role of the Vatican State, the mission of the Church, and Caritas activities.

According to PAP, the cardinals also discussed the qualities that the new pope should have, emphasising the need for a pastor close to the people in times of crisis.

The cardinals will be accommodated in the Domus Sanctae Marthae and the neighbouring building, which was necessary due to the large number of electors. The ceremony of taking the conclave's secrecy oath began in the Pauline Chapel for those involved in its organisation. Both clergy and laypeople, including technical workers, drivers, and support staff, take the oath.

During the congregation, the cardinals were given a letter from Italian priest Paolo Contini, who as a minor was a victim of paedophilia in the Church. In the letter, made available to the media, Contini appeals to the cardinals not to accept half-measures and to unite in the fight against paedophilia. The conclave will begin on Wednesday, 7th May, at 10:00 AM GMT.
