Zucchiolo: the South American veggie hybrid hitting the British shelves
A new sensation has appeared on the vegetable market: zucchiolo. It resembles a pumpkin but combines zucchini and cucumber. This unusual vegetable comes from South America and is available in the UK.
Zucchiolo was created by Spanish biotechnologists from the Beyond Seeds group and the Institute of Agricultural and Fisheries Research and Education. It can be consumed both after being thermally processed and raw.
The vegetable, which resembles a pumpkin in shape, comes in several shades: green, light green, and yellow. Its taste differs, with the yellow variety being the sweetest.
Despite being a complete novelty on the market, it is already available in some stores in Britain.
