The dramatic scenes unfolded on 7 January in the city of Várzea Grande, in the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil. A mother was walking along the roadside, pushing a pram with her daughter.

She did not see the bus approaching. The vehicle couldn’t avoid the pedestrians at the bend. Initially, it side-swiped the woman, and then dragged the pram with the little girl.

The child was dragged several metres by the bus. Eventually, she fell out of the pram. The distraught woman ran to her daughter and took her into her arms, looking towards the bus driver. Footage of this extremely dramatic incident was published on TikTok by the Brazilian outlet "O POVO".

Journalists from the outlet report that no one was harmed. The woman and her daughter can count themselves incredibly lucky. They were perilously close to being pulled under the wheels by the bus, which could have resulted in a real tragedy.

Storm in comments under the video. "It's a miracle"

Commenters under the video are calling the incident a genuine miracle. Some people are criticising the mother’s behaviour. She was holding a phone and looking at the screen while crossing the street.

Others believe that the bus driver should have been more vigilant. Commenters argue that the vehicle had the right to cross the road, but should have exercised caution upon seeing the woman crossing with her child.
