Bremerhaven arrest over TikTok threat to Christmas market
A man has been arrested in Bremerhaven for threatening an attack on a Christmas market. He posted the threats on TikTok, causing concern among residents.
In Bremerhaven, in northern Germany, authorities arrested a man who, in a video posted on TikTok, threatened an attack on the local Christmas market.
This information was provided by the local police on Sunday evening.
It has been assured that there is no threat to the public, although details regarding the arrested person or the threats he posted online have not been disclosed.
The recording can be found, among other places, on Twitter. The man appearing in it announces that he intends to attack with a knife "anyone who appears to be of Arabic descent, if he encounters such a person at the market."
Tragedy in Magdeburg
Germany is still recovering from the tragedy that occurred last Friday.
That evening in Magdeburg, on the eastern side of Germany, a car driven by a Saudi resident of Germany since 2006, ploughed at high speed into the crowd at a Christmas market.
As a result of this attack, five people, including a nine-year-old, died, and 200 were injured.
