Delicious transformation: How to turn pizza dough into perfect party snacks

Knowing how to prepare pizza dough can be beneficial in various ways. I realised this when I started serving my family pizza balls alongside the traditional Italian pie. Dinner? A party snack? Use them however you like!

Everyone loves pizza, undeniably. Fluffy dough, flavourful toppings, and cheese, lots of cheese – it's the recipe for a successful lunch, dinner, or night out. However, sometimes it's worth using these elements more intriguingly than the usual pizza. Pizza balls, which I've been preparing for some time now, perfectly demonstrate the efficacy of this trick.

Of course, the main challenge in preparing such a snack is making great pizza dough. Below, I've included the recipe I personally use and always find satisfying. The rest of the ingredients are completely improvisational. There's one rule, and I've already mentioned it: it must have lots of cheese. Well, you can't deceive the heart and stomach.

Pizza balls – a snack for dinner or a party

Ingredients:

  • 340 grams of flour (you can use type 450, but it’s best to find an Italian kind marked with the numbers 00),
  • 1 teaspoon salt,
  • ½ teaspoon sugar,
  • 7 grams instant yeast,
  • 240 millilitres warm water,
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil.

Toppings:

  • 255 grams mozzarella,
  • 115 grams yellow cheese,
  • 100 grams salami,
  • 4 tablespoons butter,
  • 1 clove garlic,
  • salt,
  • Provençal herbs,
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste,
  • parsley.

Instructions:

  1. Begin by mixing the yeast with warm water and sugar. Combine the ready mixture with flour, salt, and olive oil.
  2. Knead the dough, form it into a ball, and cover it with a cloth. Leave it for an hour in a warm place.
  3. Meanwhile, grate the cheeses, chop the salami, and press the garlic clove. Mix everything in a bowl, add butter, and season with salt and herbs. Transfer it to a saucepan and heat everything on low heat.
  4. Divide the ready pizza dough into smaller pieces and make flat cakes from each. Spread them with tomato paste and add the prepared filling.
  5. Seal them into balls and place them in an olive oil-greased springform pan. Bake for about 25 minutes at 180°C. Serve with chopped parsley.
