While large parcels of marijuana or cocaine are relatively routine for officers dealing with drug cases, the creativity of producers, sellers, and dealers of illegal substances continues to surprise them. These individuals go to great lengths to keep their operations concealed.
Not long ago, we encountered amphetamine in sweets being sent as packages for the needy in New Zealand. Shortly after, the media was abuzz with reports about a pizzeria in Germany that was covertly offering...cocaine for takeaway. This time, Dutch police stumbled upon an unusual drug discovery. By chance, officers found a gnome figurine made from MDMA.
A gnome full of ecstasy
MDMA, also known as ecstasy, is a popular psychoactive substance that enhances empathy in the user and induces euphoric and psychedelic sensations. It is typically considered a "party" drug that significantly boosts serotonin levels.
"Drugs come in many shapes and sizes, but from time to time we encounter unique items," reads a social media post by the Dongemond police, who reported seizing a gnome figurine made from MDMA. The officers found the sculpture during the raid and were immediately suspicious.
"It's strange in itself to have a garden gnome here, so we decided to test it for drugs. The gnome itself was clearly surprised," commented a representative of the Dutch police.
