Russia launches widespread missile attack across Ukraine
The Ukrainian Air Force and monitoring channels report a "massive missile attack." Missiles, including Kalibr, Kh-22, and Kh-101, were launched from 7 Tu-22M3 bombers, 6 Tu-95MS bombers, and MiG-31 fighters.
The first group of missiles launched by Russian bombers entered Ukrainian airspace. The missiles targeted areas in the Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, and Cherkasy regions, among others.
Then, a second group of missiles was directed to western Ukraine. The Armed Forces' Operational Command reported that alert fighter pairs were scrambled, and ground air defence and radar reconnaissance systems reached the highest state of readiness.
According to Air Force reports, the missiles were headed for Lviv and the city of Stryi in the Lviv region. Others struck Ivano-Frankivsk and the city of Kolomyia in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.
"The enemy does not stop terrorising Ukrainians. In connection with the massive attack, the transmission system operator applies preventive restriction measures," wrote Ukraine's Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko on Facebook.
