The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, calls on Western countries to permit attacks on Russian territory. Zelensky believes that all airports from which Russia conducts attacks on Ukraine should be destroyed. He said this would compel Vladimir Putin to engage in potential peace talks.

Volodymyr Zelensky attended the session of the IV Summit of the European Political Community. During the inauguration on 18 July, he made his appeal, which has been widely reported by Ukrainian media.

I appeal to all leaders who possess the necessary courage. These steps (authorising attacks on Russia – ed.) must be taken. I am addressing primarily the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Poland, and other friends – your courage can be decisive for peace, quotes Zelensky the portal "RBC-Ukraine".

According to him, the military airports from which Russian aircraft with bombs on Ukrainian cities, as well as Russian rocket launchers, take off must be destroyed.

This will not only eliminate some targets but also reduce Russia's ability to continue the war. Missiles and drones are not "carriers of national sovereignty," so there must be a collective will to shoot them down, stated the Ukrainian leader.

Zelensky speaks about stopping Russia on the battlefield

The war in Ukraine continues, with Russia still launching many missiles and bombs. President Zelensky cites the effectiveness of strikes on Russia in the Kharkiv region as "more convincing than abstract considerations."

We stopped the Russian advance on Kharkiv. Full stop. Putin sacrificed tens of thousands of his citizens but achieved nothing significant. This was possible thanks to the courage of our warriors and the support of our partners who lifted the restrictions on the use of Western weapons along our border. Did it lead to an escalation? No. On the contrary, it blocked the attempt to expand the war. Did Putin have any response? No, argued Zelensky.

The President of Ukraine also mentioned that the recent Russian attack on a children's oncology hospital proves the evil guided by Vladimir Putin.

We can steer this war towards its just end through the power of our weapons and our diplomacy, and we should not be afraid of these possibilities. The more effective our air defences are, the more helpless Putin will be. The fewer restrictions we have on the use of effective weapons, the more Russia will seek peace, quotes Zelensky "RBC-Ukraine".
