On Thursday, a truck carrying 8 million freshly minted dimes was involved in an accident on a highway in Texas. As a result of the incident, the coins spilled onto the road.

No other vehicle was involved in the accident, and the driver and his passenger were taken to the hospital.

How was the highway cleanup conducted?

Cleaning up the spilled coins was quite a challenge. Special "vacuums," which are usually used for unclogging sewers and drains, were employed to collect the coins. Thanks to this equipment, most of the scattered money was recovered. The mayor of the nearby town of Alvord, Caleb Caviness, confirmed that most of the amount was recovered.

Collecting the coins took services 14 hours, during which time the highway was closed.
