The base of oatmeal is, of course, oats, which are most often cooked in cow's milk or water. However, there is an even better way to provide an extra portion of vitamins and minerals. When making breakfast, reach for kefir. This simple addition will turn ordinary oatmeal into a valuable and nutritious meal.

Choose oatmeal

Oatmeal is one of the best sources of fibre, both soluble (beta-glucans) and insoluble. Fibre regulates the digestive system, prevents constipation, provides a feeling of fullness, and helps maintain a healthy weight. Oatmeal supplies the body with B vitamins, which are essential for the proper functioning of the nervous system. It also contains magnesium, iron, zinc, and potassium, which support many processes in the body.

Kefir, on the other hand, is a great source of calcium and natural probiotics. These good bacteria help maintain a healthy digestive system and strengthen immunity. Kefir also contains protein and B vitamins, which are beneficial for skin, hair, and nails, and are important in the weight loss process.

In oats, you can find phytic acid. It binds with minerals such as iron, zinc, or magnesium, making it difficult for the body to absorb them. Probiotic bacteria present in kefir produce enzymes that break down phytic acid. As a result, the minerals in the oats become more accessible to our bodies. The combination of probiotics and the fibre found in oatmeal positively affects the gut flora and improves the function of the digestive system.
