Upon his arrival in Berlin on Thursday night, President Biden congratulated Netanyahu on the successful operation against Sinwar, highlighting Sinwar's role in considerable violence. He also stressed the need for continued progress and expressed his desire for a quick resolution to the war.

As the US president mentioned, Secretary of State Antony Blinken will head to Israel in the coming days on a mission to negotiate a ceasefire agreement.

Biden and Netanyahu discussed how to use the moment of Sinwar's death to free Hamas hostages and end the war while ensuring Israel's security and preventing Hamas from regaining control over Gaza. This was stated in a White House announcement.

A statement from Netanyahu's office after the conversation read, "The US President praised the IDF and their excellent work."

Hamas leader killed in Israeli attack

The Israeli army reported on Thursday that soldiers killed the leader of the ruling Islamist Hamas in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday. Sinwar was one of the architects of the attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, in which approximately 1,200 people were killed, and 251 were kidnapped. According to the Israeli military, 97 of the hostages are still being held in the Gaza Strip, and some of them are no longer alive.

In the brutal Israeli intervention targeting Hamas in the Gaza Strip, over more than a year, over 42,000 Palestinians have died. The US has repeatedly attempted to broker a ceasefire, but so far, all negotiations have ended in failure.
