The White House spokesperson announced that President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will attend President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration.

- The president promised that he would attend the inauguration of whomever won the election. He and the First Lady are going to honor that promise and attend the inauguration - said Andrew Bates, Principal Deputy Press Secretary for the White House.

He added that Biden believes it is an "important demonstration of commitment to our democratic values and to honouring the will of the people."

Donald Trump did not attend Joe Biden's inauguration

Let's recall that Donald Trump did not attend Mr. Biden's inauguration in 2021. The ceremony took place two weeks after Trump supporters stormed the Capitol before the certification of election results.

Trump was the first president in over 150 years not to attend the inauguration of his successor.
