Bitcoin hits record high amid Trump token surge and inauguration
Dealers report that Bitcoin reached a new record level ahead of Donald Trump's inauguration on Monday. The market value of the digital token "Trump" rose over the weekend to $15 billion.
On Monday, bitcoin increased to a record $109,000 per token.
The rise in bitcoin's rate occurred after an unstable weekend, during which the cryptocurrency depreciated following the debut of Donald Trump's digital token, which is traded under the symbol "Trump."
The market value of "Trump" rose over the weekend to $15 billion, according to CoinMarketCap, after Donald Trump promoted it on his social media accounts on Friday.
During the campaign before the presidential election, Trump promised that the United States would become the global home of cryptocurrencies and even supported the creation of a strategic national Bitcoin reserve.
Donald Trump will be sworn in as President of the USA at noon, after which he will deliver an address where, traditionally, presidents set the tone for their tenure. In an interview with NBC News, he announced that the motto of the speech will be "community and strength, and the word: justice".
State leaders at the inauguration ceremony
For the first time in 40 years, this ceremony will not take place on the steps in front of the east entrance to the Capitol but inside the Capitol Rotunda. The change was explained by low temperatures (about -4°C with a wind chill that made it feel as low as -13°C). Foreign leaders, including the Presidents of Argentina, Javier Milei, Italy, Giorgia Meloni, Georgia, and Salome Zurabishvili, will attend the ceremony for the first time.
After the swearing-in and the artistic performances—including a performance by country star Carrie Underwood—Trump will deliver his inaugural speech.
