Churchill's grandson denounces Trump's disdain for Europe
Sir Nicholas Soames, the grandson of the legendary British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, criticized Donald Trump. He directly stated that the people of the U.S. president "despise Europe really."
During Wednesday's session of the British International Relations and Defence Committee, 77-year-old Nicholas Soames delivered an emotional speech.
He also predicted that in future the "special relationship" between the UK and the US would not be "what it was." "I don’t think they want it to be," he said as quoted by "The Independent".
The grandson of Winston Churchill, who has been associated with the British Conservative Party for years, also assessed that the people of Donald Trump "despise Europe really."
Sir Nicholas Soames reacted particularly sharply to the fact that Donald Trump once again placed a bust of his grandfather in the Oval Office. According to the British politician, this was a decision that was horribly tacky and completely absurd.
Trump has attacked the EU many times
In recent weeks, Trump has repeatedly accused the European Union of cheating the USA, suggesting that the EU was created precisely to exploit the United States.
He also recently wrote that Europe should be less concerned with Russia and focus more on solving problems related to immigrants, whom he described as "rape gangs".
