The drone attack hit the residential areas in the northern Ukrainian city of Pryluky. According to Chernihiv Oblast Governor Viacheslav Chaus, Iranian-made Shahed-136 drones were used in the assault. The Russian offensive resulted in the death of at least five people, including a one-year-old child, and injured nine others.

According to the State Emergency Service, the strike resulted in the total destruction of two residential homes, two garages, a farm structure, and a vehicle.

Russian offensive escalates

The deadly assault is part of a wider wave of drone and missile strikes carried out by Russia, aimed at civilian infrastructure throughout Ukraine. In recent weeks, northern regions of Ukraine, such as Chernihiv, have come under increased attacks. According to Ukraine’s Air Force, just last night, Russia launched 103 drones, resulting in the death of at least eight civilians and injuring 46 others.

While Chernihiv suffered the deadliest attack of the day on Wednesday, Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Sumy Oblasts suffered civilian casualties as well.

On the other side of the conflict, as a result of the Ukrainian strategy aimed at destabilizing Russian ability to carry out offensive operations, over 40 aircraft were destroyed or damaged in the groundbreaking "Spiderweb" operation.
