On Friday, after the Constitutional Court's decision to annul the presidential elections, Calin Georgescu, who was supposed to participate in the second round, sharply criticized this move, calling it a "trampling over democracy."
"On this day, the corrupt system made a pact with the devil. I have only one pact — with the Romanian people and God," declared Georgescu, quoted by the portal Politico.
The judges cited complaints of electoral manipulation, which has caused uncertainty and tensions in the country. Georgescu believes the court's decision is a "trampling over democracy."
"The rule of law is in an induced coma and justice, subordinated to political orders, has practically lost its essence, it is no longer justice, it is at the behest. In such a state we are no longer talking about justice, we are practically talking about a simulacrum that betrays the principles of democracy," he assessed.
