Cory Booker's marathon speech warns against Russia talks
In the United States, there is an ongoing debate about further military aid to Ukraine and talks with Russia. Many politicians oppose negotiations with the Kremlin, and Senator Cory Booker is among them. In a record-breaking speech against Donald Trump, he called Russia a "pariah."
Cory Booker set a new record for the longest speech in the American Senate, speaking for a total of 25 hours and 5 minutes. During his prolonged address, the senator criticized many of Donald Trump's actions, specifically targeting the planned negotiations with Russia.
According to Booker, the United States should undoubtedly continue to support Ukraine in humanitarian, business, and military aspects. He reminded Trump that he wants to trade Ukraine in negotiations with the Russians.
The senator began listing Russian war crimes committed by Vladimir Putin's soldiers since 2022. He emphasized that the Russians committed a massacre in Bucha and kidnapped 19,000 children from Ukraine, taking them away from their parents.
Cory Booker mentioned that the Russians attacked civilians, schools, and hospitals. They bombed civilian targets and tortured prisoners of war, said a visibly upset Cory Booker.
Cory Booker also has no doubt about how the United States should treat Russia. He cited European Union politicians as examples to follow.
Booker after 22 hours of his speech said that considering all the atrocities committed by Russia, one might think that the United States would continue to treat Russia as an opponent and a pariah, just as other Western democracies do.
The American politician's speech was watched online by over a million people at one point.
