Oat bars - a healthy snack for any time of the day

Oat bars are not only nutritious but also incredibly versatile. You can take them to work, school, the gym, or on a trip. Thanks to the oats, they provide the body with fibre, which aids digestion and provides a feeling of fullness.

Did you know that you can make oat bars at home using just a few ingredients? Without added preservatives, artificial colours, or hydrogenated fats, they are a much healthier option than their store-bought counterparts. Additionally, homemade oat bars are an excellent base for experiments – you can enrich them with dried fruits, nuts, or your favourite chocolate.

Recipe for oat bars with 5 ingredients

Preparing homemade oat bars is easier than you think. It only takes five ingredients to create a delicious and healthy snack that both kids and adults will love. Below you will find a tried-and-true recipe for no-bake oat bars.

Ingredients:

  • 500 millilitres of oats,
  • 125 millilitres of peanut butter,
  • 60 millilitres of butter,
  • 80 millilitres of sugar,
  • 100 grams of chocolate (for decoration).

Preparation:

  1. Prepare the base: In a saucepan, melt the butter with sugar, stirring until the ingredients combine and the mixture becomes smooth. Add the peanut butter and mix thoroughly to achieve a smooth consistency.
  2. Add the oats: Gradually pour the oats into the mixture, stirring constantly to ensure they are evenly coated.
  3. Forming the bars: Spread the mixture on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, smooth it out, and press down.
  4. Decorate with chocolate: Melt the chocolate in a double boiler and drizzle it over the top. You can also use a fork to create delicate patterns on the surface.
  5. Cooling: Place the tray in the fridge for at least 2 hours to allow the bars to set.

An alternative option could be the layered preparation of such bars – this idea can be found on the Taffey Bakery blog.

After cooling, cut the mass into bars and store them in an airtight container in the fridge. It's a simple way to prepare a healthy snack that you can always have on hand.
