Crepes meet candy: Kinder Bueno-inspired dessert delight

Sweet crepes are a delightful meal and afternoon snack that all generations love. Instead of using jam or cottage cheese as filling again, I like to try something different. Those with a sweet tooth will be thrilled.

Everyone is familiar with crepes, as they have been a staple in Polish homes for many generations. Some prefer raspberry jam, others enjoy a mixture of cottage cheese with sugar and egg yolks, and there are also fans of chocolate and banana combinations. However, my latest discovery is crepes inspired by the iconic Kinder Bueno bar. No sweet tooth can resist them.

Kinder Bueno crepes

"Bueno" in Spanish means "good," and it perfectly captures the taste of this dish. It's a dessert idea that brings the flavor of the popular candy bar to universally loved crepes. The combination of delicate pancakes with a creamy, nutty filling reminiscent of the Kinder Bueno bar's interior is a sweet success.

You can enhance the crepe batter and filling with a splash of coffee liqueur or a tablespoon of strong espresso. However, if you want to serve Bueno crepes to children, just use cocoa. The highlight is the delicious cream filling made with cottage cheese, powdered milk, cream, and of course, ground hazelnuts. Toasting the hazelnuts beforehand will enhance their deep flavour and aroma. If you have hazelnut paste, add it to the mixture for an extra treat. You won't regret it.

For decoration:

  • milk and white chocolate,

  1. In a bowl, mix the flour, milk, sparkling water, eggs, salt, cocoa, and oil until smooth. If using espresso, cool it before adding to the batter.
  2. Cook the crepes in a frying pan.
  3. Toast the hazelnuts in a dry pan, then grind finely.
  4. Whip the chilled cream with powdered sugar, gradually adding the cottage cheese and powdered milk towards the end.
  5. Add the ground hazelnuts and (optionally) liqueur to the mixture and blend.
  6. Spread the prepared filling on the crepes and roll them up or fold into triangles.
  7. Decorate with melted white and milk chocolate and pieces of the bars.

Kinder Bueno crepes are ready to enjoy. There will certainly be no shortage of eager tasters. Enjoy your meal!
