- The Secretary of State, speaking to NBC News, indicated that this week would be crucial for determining whether to continue involvement in the current initiative or to shift attention to other matters that are just as important — or in some cases, even more pressing.

- There are reasons to be optimistic but there are reasons to be realistic, of course. We're close but we're not close enough, - he indicated.

Rubio also revealed why the US did not decide to impose new sanctions on Russia. - Because we still hope that efforts toward a peaceful resolution will proceed diplomatically and that we will be able to bring both sides closer together, - he emphasized.

Trump spoke with Zelensky

On Saturday at the Vatican, President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Donald Trump in St. Peter's Basilica. The leaders, sitting face to face, talked with each other for about 15 minutes. This was the first meeting since the incident that occurred at the White House in late February 2025.

After the conversation, Trump posted on social media, questioning Russia's stance and Vladimir Putin. "I'm starting to wonder if he really wants to end this war, or if he's just misleading me, and we'll need to treat him differently," he wrote.
