Djibril Cissé became well-known to fans of three of the top five soccer leagues in Europe. He played for clubs in France, England, and Italy. He had his glory days with Liverpool FC and Panathinaikos. Over nearly a decade, he was called up to the French national team, scoring nine goals in 41 matches for the national side.

Cissé was a colourful personality off the field as well, a trait that helped him win the hearts of fans. He broke into major European football at the turn of the century with AJ Auxerre, where he remains a fan favourite to this day.

Recently, Djibril Cissé appeared at the stadium in Auxerre, but in a different role compared to two decades ago when he was breaking scoring records. The striker scored an impressive 70 goals for the club, where he started his career.

This time, the former athlete took his place at the DJ console and helped with the musical arrangement. He worked on a track, contributing to the atmosphere of soccer matches. The song in question is the 1997 hit "Freed from Desire" by Italian singer Gala. The tune had to wait nearly 15 years for its massive popularity.

Djibril Cissé himself has been interested in music since childhood, but during his soccer career, his athletic achievements were the primary focus.

The Frenchman was plagued by serious injuries. Ultimately, he ended his soccer career in 2021, but afterward, he began helping the national team on smaller fields and in six-a-side soccer.
