Drone attack ignites Russian oil depot amid political tension
An oil depot in Kropotkin, in the Krasnodar region of Russia, caught fire due to a drone attack. There is no official information on who is responsible for the attack.
After 6 PM Eastern Time on Tuesday, reports of an attack on the oil depot in the city of Kropotkin emerged. At least three explosions occurred.
A fire broke out at the drone crash site, covering an area of about 20 square metres. The pipeline between the tanks is damaged, leading to a fourth level of difficulty rating for the fire. A team of 105 people and 45 units of equipment is working on-site.
Thirty employees were evacuated from the location. The company's operations have been suspended.
Ukrainian Telegram channels report that the depot is a transshipment station for oil exports in the Russian Federation.
Russia attacked after the talks
Shortly after the phone conversation between Trump and Putin ended, an alert was announced in Kyiv and the Kyiv region due to a massive attack by Russian Shahed-type strike drones.
The alarm in Kyiv was announced after 1 PM Eastern Time, and soon explosions and sounds of anti-aircraft gunfire could be heard. More explosions and bursts of heavy machine gun fire, used to shoot down the drones, were heard after 4 PM. Many hours later, the alarms persisted. In many regions of Ukraine, anti-aircraft defenses were in operation.
