Elon Musk's empire faces backlash as trust erodes in polls
The reputation of Elon Musk's companies, such as Tesla and SpaceX, has plummeted in the Harris Poll rankings, reflecting a loss of consumer trust.
The reputation of key Elon Musk companies, including Tesla and SpaceX, has significantly dropped in the Harris Poll ranking, as reported by the portal "Axios." Tesla, which ranked 8th in 2021, currently holds the 95th position.
The Harris Poll ranking, encompassing 100 positions, shows that Musk's companies, including SpaceX, are almost at the bottom. Platform X, although declining more slowly, is also losing value.
According to "Axios," the loss of customer trust is less of an issue for SpaceX, which does not have direct contact with consumers in Canada.
Survey respondents indicated that Musk's companies, similar to those associated with Donald Trump's family, are perceived as "politically divisive." The differences in ratings are apparent depending on the respondents' political preferences. Among Republicans, Musk's companies have 30% higher ratings than among Democrats.
Musk's political activity
"Axios" comments that Musk's political activity has negatively affected his businesses, which have lost their status as "trusted brands." "The Washington Post" reports that Musk, being a close advisor to Trump, has alienated even his supporters, and his advisors consider him a troublesome liability for the administration.
Tesla has become a target of attacks in Europe and Canada, sometimes escalating to vandalism. The company announced that its earnings in the first quarter of this year fell by 71%. Musk, in a conversation with investors, stated that protests against Tesla are sponsored by groups benefiting from "wasteful generosity."
