  • Le Grand Continent Survey: The study covered nine EU countries, including Poland and Romania, and revealed that 55% of Europeans fear war.
  • Perception of the USA: 51% of respondents consider Donald Trump an adversary of Europe, and 63% claim his leadership destabilizes the world.
  • Support for Ukraine: Most Europeans want Ukraine to be admitted to the EU by 2030, despite waning U.S. support for the country.

Is Europe at risk of war?

The survey by Le Grand Continent indicates that 55% of Europeans fear war within the EU. It covered nine countries, including Poland and Romania, where concerns are notably high. The publication explains that this stems from their proximity to Ukraine, which has been contending with Russian aggression for years.

Negative views on Trump

The survey results reveal that 51% of respondents consider Donald Trump an adversary of Europe, and 63% claim that his leadership makes the world less stable. Elon Musk is also distrusted, with as many as 79% of respondents holding an unfavourable opinion of him. Le Grand Continent notes that Poles and Romanians are less critical of the new U.S. administration.

The need to create a European army

70% of respondents believe that the EU should rely on its defence forces. However, Poland, Italy, and Romania have less conviction for independence from the USA. 60% of respondents support the idea of a common European army, although Poles prefer to count on their armed forces.

Most Europeans desire Ukraine to join the EU by 2030. 56% of respondents from eight countries endorse this idea, although 55% of French are skeptical. Le Grand Continent stresses that Europeans still wish to support Ukraine despite declining U.S. assistance.
