It has been reported that Ukrainians are receiving letters from individuals impersonating the Office for Foreigners. "These letters urge Ukrainian citizens to undertake military service, threatening them with legal repercussions and extradition," the USC explains, stressing that they did not author these letters.

The Office has released a scan of such a letter, which falsely states that it is a "repeat summons for military service" in the header.

"In accordance with Ukrainian law, specifically the Military Service Act, and due to ongoing mobilization, as a Ukrainian citizen, we notify you that between December 17 and 31, 2024, we plan to visit your residence," the letter states.

The intention of this visit is to bring you to the mobilization point, as required by your military service obligation in the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the fake letter continues.

Furthermore, it reads: "Ukrainian regulations mandate that those summoned for military service must report immediately. We expect you to take all necessary actions to comply with this obligation."

The fake letter ends with details about supposed consequences, stating that if a Ukrainian citizen does not respond voluntarily, it may result in an arrest warrant among other measures.

"We remind you that individuals evading military service may face legal and criminal repercussions, including extradition to Ukraine," the fake summons states.
