The Ukrainian Armed Forces use every weapon to eliminate threats on the front. Several times, videos have appeared on social media showing successful attempts to shoot down drones using small arms.

Ukrainian Mi-24 Downs Russian Drone

Alongside the Mi-24 attack helicopter, Ukrainian forces have a range of other weapons at their disposal — each critical in countering one of the most persistent threats of the war: drones. These compact yet lethal systems have repeatedly demonstrated their effectiveness, most notably during a recent large-scale Ukrainian strike on Russian air bases housing Tu-95MS and Tu-22M3 bombers, as well as A-50 airborne early warning aircraft.

Therefore, any way to eliminate the drone is worth its weight in gold. The Ukrainians have just shown a recording that shows how they eliminate one of the enemy drones - Shahed-136. They destroyed it using an Mi-24 attack helicopter - we read in the entry on X. The recording, although short, shows precise fire from the helicopter, which ended with the explosion of the Russian drone.

Mi-24 Helicopter: The "Devil’s Chariot"

The Mi-24, a heavy combat helicopter renowned for its durability and firepower, earned the nickname "Devil’s Chariot" — a term first coined by Afghan fighters during the Soviet-Afghan War. Produced between 1970 and 1989, the aircraft remains a formidable presence on the battlefield.

Capable of reaching speeds over 300 km/h, the Mi-24 features a heavily armored fuselage that protects the crew from small arms fire up to 12.7 mm in caliber. Critical components of the drive system are also reinforced with armor. The helicopter’s maximum takeoff weight reaches 11,500 kilograms, underscoring its robust, multipurpose design.
