Drones in rescue operations and on the front lines

Rescuers and police officers have been using drones in their work for some time now. These devices can access places that are otherwise inaccessible to humans.

They are also becoming increasingly common on the front lines. As WP journalist Sławek Zagórski noted, on September 13, 2022, the Russians used Iranian Shahed 136 drones on a large scale for the first time. The targets were military facilities and critical infrastructure in the Kharkiv region.

Since then, the scale of these strikes has consistently increased. While in February 2023, the Russians launched only 45 Shaheds, by June 2024, it was already 426 drones, in September 2024 - 1,338, in January 2025 - 2,599 units, and in February - 3,902. They were attacking with both Shahed 136 drones and their Russian equivalents, Geran 2.

With the rapid advancement of drone technology, the production of countermeasures is also accelerating.
