Does Donald Trump's presidency deter some tourists from visiting the USA? This is the conclusion drawn from a survey released on Tuesday by the Forsa Institute for German television RTL/ntv. Forty-three percent of respondents admit that they would only consider a trip to the USA once Donald Trump is no longer in power. Fourteen percent generally rule out a vacation in the United States altogether.

Conversely, 41 percent of respondents stated that they are currently inclined to choose the USA for a vacation.

Greatest reluctance among Green Party supporters

The survey indicates that the greatest reluctance to travel to the United States is found among Green Party supporters; only 14 percent of them would currently go to that country, while 76 percent reject this possibility. Additionally, most supporters of the Social Democratic SPD and the CDU/CSU conservatives are not inclined to visit the United States during Trump's administration.

The situation is entirely different among supporters of the populist-right AfD: 75 percent express a desire to visit the USA even during Donald Trump's presidency, with only seven percent indicating they would not.

Notably, individuals who have previously vacationed in the USA are particularly hesitant. Fifty-six percent of them would not consider a second trip at this time.

Recently, the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs updated its travel recommendations for the USA and highlighted potential risks during entry into the country, including the possibility of deportation.
