Grilled bananas: A surprising dessert for your barbecue
Grilled bananas with nuts are a simple and delicious dessert recipe from the barbecue. It's quick and easy to prepare. The secret to the perfect texture and balanced sweetness lies in two key ingredients. Details below.
With the arrival of grilling season, our gardens fill with the aroma of spices, marinades, and smoke. While grilling is mainly associated with meat dishes, bananas are equally popular at my home.
Which bananas to choose for grilling?
I select bananas that are not too ripe so they don't fall apart during grilling. Ideally, their skin should be uniformly yellow. An alternative to traditional bananas is plantains, which also work great on the grill. Plantains, known as "vegetable bananas," have more starch and are less sweet, making them an ideal addition to meat dishes. Simply peel, slice, season, and then grill for about 15 minutes.
