Burnt baking sheets are an issue many people face. Stains not only look unsightly, but they can also affect the taste and smell of food. Moreover, food remnants can release harmful substances during baking. Therefore, regular cleaning of baking sheets is crucial, something not all of us remember.

How to clean a burnt baking sheet?

To avoid burns, it's worth using parchment paper or silicone mats. Regularly cleaning fresh stains is easier than removing dried residue. However, avoid abrasive sponges, which can damage the baking sheet's surface.

We have many products in the kitchen that can help remove stains without scrubbing. One of them is salt. Just sprinkle it on the baking sheet and place it in an oven preheated to 60°C (140°F) for about 15 minutes. After it cools down, simply wipe the sheet with a damp cloth.

Reliable products: baking soda, citric acid, and hydrogen peroxide

For tough stains, it's also worth using baking soda and citric acid. Sprinkle a thick layer of baking soda on the sheet and add citric acid. After a few hours, the chemical reaction will lift the stains. Finally, wash the sheet under running, lukewarm water.

A mixture of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide in paste form is another way to tackle stubborn stains. Simply apply the paste to the dirty baking sheet, leave it for 15 minutes, then gently wipe with a soft sponge and rinse with water. Baking soda acts as a gentle abrasive, without scratching the surface. Thanks to this, the baking sheet will be as good as new.
