In Houston on Christmas, officers were called to an apartment complex in the northwestern part of the city. They found several boys with gunshot wounds. According to Major Saul Suarez from the Harris County Sheriff's office, the incident occurred just after midnight on Wednesday, Eastern Time.

The boys, aged 12 to 14, were taken to a nearby hospital. One of them was in critical condition, while two were in stable condition. Police believe the shooting happened when the children tried to rob a 25-year-old man, who responded by firing his own weapon.

One of the boys involved in the robbery and the man who fired the shots have been detained. The decision on possible charges will be made by prosecutors or a jury.

The 25-year-old's girlfriend told ABC 13 that the couple was returning from a Christmas party when they were surrounded by at least four armed boys. Initially, her boyfriend thought it was a joke due to the attackers' young age.

One of the boys reportedly has multiple gunshot wounds. Witnesses at the scene described the events in an interview with a USA Today reporter.

- One of the police officers was trying to keep him coherent and everything, and he said, 'What did you get for Christmas?' - a witness recounted.
