IShowSpeed's daring stunt in New Zealand sparks controversy
The worldwide IShowSpeed tour is in full swing. Currently, the influencer is in New Zealand, where he is live-streaming his adventures. One of the challenges the influencer took on almost ended in tragedy. The cameras recorded everything.
Where do the boundaries between fun and risk for views end, and where does flirting with danger begin? It's hard to say. Some internet creators engage in extremely hazardous activities just to capture attention for a moment. Some interact with wild animals, while others bury themselves alive. The method of gaining temporary popularity doesn't matter—the only important things are the views and the partnerships and contracts that come with them.
Did IShowSpeed almost lose his life?
While in New Zealand, IShowSpeed visited the Velocity Valley amusement park. One of the facility's attractions is a 43-metre tower from which volunteers jump without ropes and harnesses. The streamer also decided to jump, documenting his feat on video as usual. Wearing a helmet, Speed growled at the camera and then fell onto the net located almost 50 metres below.
The next part of the video shows the influencer lying on the net. People around him are acting like paramedics. Speed is lying on his side, and a woman helping him is stabilizing his head. After removing the helmet, the streamer grabbed his head, and a grimace of pain appeared on his face. Everything looked very serious and alarming. It's no wonder that fans of IShowSpeed had many questions.
The director of Velocity Valley presents his version of events
In a press release, Simon Short, the managing director of Velocity Valley, stated that IShowSpeed was unharmed. Short emphasized that the influencer was "thrilled" by the attraction. The director claims that after the dramatic conclusion of the live broadcast, Speed got up from the net as if nothing had happened, then added that the attraction was "awesome." Short added that Speed's cameraman whispered to him shortly after the jump, "Don't worry, he's going to pretend he's dead in a moment." The staff attending to Speed didn't know his intentions but handled the situation professionally. As shown in the recording, Speed whispered 'green apple,' which was the codeword for the cameraman to end the broadcast, leaving millions of fans in uncertainty, said Short.
