The results of the poll show that 60 percent of Israelis support Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stepping down. According to the "Times of Israel," 31 percent of respondents disagreed.

Among voters in the current governing coalition, 24 percent are in favour of the prime minister’s resignation, while 94 percent in the opposition electorate share this expectation. Additionally, 64 percent of respondents would also like Shin Bet Intelligence Chief Ronen Bar to resign.

Three-quarters of Israelis support the creation of a state commission to investigate errors within the military, intelligence, government, and state institutions. These oversights allowed terrorists from Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and smaller groups operating in the Gaza Strip to infiltrate Israel in October 2023. Fifteen percent of respondents, much like Prime Minister Netanyahu, oppose such an investigation.

The survey was conducted by the Manu Geva institute with a sample size of 500 respondents.

Was the army unprepared?

Last week, the results of an internal investigation by the Israel Defense Forces concerning the 2023 attack were announced. The investigation found that the army was unprepared for the Hamas incursion and its response was chaotic and too slow.

It was emphasized that the armed forces underestimated the threat posed by the terrorist organization, which resulted from numerous errors made over the years. The investigation did not examine political decisions.
