Cut tulips are a popular choice for interior decoration, especially in spring. To enjoy their beauty for as long as possible, remember a few rules. First and foremost, tulips feel best in a cool place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources, like radiators or fireplaces. What else should you keep in mind if you want tulips to last in a vase for more than a few days?

Beautiful tulips in a vase? Stick to these rules

To keep tulips in a vase for a long time, proper preparation of the vessel is crucial. Before placing the flowers, thoroughly wash the vase and rinse with cold water. Remember that tulips look best in a transparent vessel, and the water should be only about 10 centimetres high.

Do not remove the foil around the bouquet immediately after purchase. Place the flowers in the vase with the packaging for an hour, allowing them to "tighten" and maintain an upright form. Before placing the tulips in the vase, cut the stem at an angle and remove leaves that would be submerged in water.

Add this to the vase. Tulips will last longer

Remember not to pair tulips with daffodils and roses, as these flowers may accelerate their wilting. Instead, tulips are best displayed with other tulips.

This trick was known by our grandmothers. To extend the life of tulips, add half a teaspoon of sugar to their water. This way, the flower petals won't fall off as quickly, and we can enjoy a beautiful, fresh plant much longer. Another trick is to add a copper coin or aspirin to the vase, which inhibits bacterial growth and keeps the flowers fresh longer.
